Registered Certified Reflexologists
Reflexologists do not diagnose, prescribe or treat specific conditions and should not be used as a substitute for necessary medical treatment. Reflex therapy treats the whole person, often working together with other medical and complementary therapies to achieve the best results for the client. If you have never experienced reflexology before, you may be a little nervous prior to attending your first appointment. A professional Reflexologist will soon put you at ease and will give you the opportunity to ask any questions that you may have. Techniques used during a therapeutic session are firm but usually not painful, although consideration must be given to the fact that pain and tenderness of specific points normally reflects tension and congestion in the immediate area and in the corresponding part of the body. Reflexology does not require a condition to be beneficial. The practice is a wonderful way to feel better and gain a sense of health and well-being, providing inner calm and an increase in energy. Reflexology sessions usually last 45 minutes to 1 hour, generally costing $40 to $65 depending on geographical location and the service provided. Depending on the focus of a session the number of sessions required will vary. For a health problem, expect to commit to a series of sessions before assessing results.
How to choose a Reflexologist
When selecting a Reflexologist, it is important to choose as you would any other professional. Choose a Reflexologist that is a trained and certified practitioner holding membership in a provincial and/or national Association. The Reflexology Association of Canada (RAC) and RAC BC requires that all practicing Reflexologists adhere to a strict code of ethics and conduct along with professional standards of practice. Only registered members of (RAC) may use the "RCRT" (Registered Canadian Reflexology Therapist) designation in their title, indicating they are a registered certified practitioner that is commited to internationally accepted standards and participates in regular post-graduate training and professional development programs.
The following Reflexologists are registered certified members of the British Columbia Chapter of the Reflexology Association of Canada. If you make an appointment with a Reflexologist listed here, please let them know that you found them on the RAC-BC Website.
